Collection poem of Jalaludin Rumi

Istana Cinta

You twist my heart, dwell in my mind
and fill my eyes, you are my joy
I can’t be without you.
You are my sleep, my rest, the water I drink.
You are my clarity, my dignity, my world
I can’t be without you.
______________________

In every breath if you’re the center of your own desires,
you’ll lose the grace,
of your beloved
but if in every breath you blow away your self claim,
the ecstasy of love will soon arrive.
_______________________

in every breath if you’re the center of your own thoughts,
the sadness of autumn will fall on you,
but if in every breath you strip naked just like a winter,
the joy of spring will grow from within
______________________

The world is a prison and we are the prisoners: dig a hole in the prison and let yourself out!
_____________________

Your fragrant breath like the morning breeze has come to the stillness of the garden
You have breathed new life into me
______________________

I will soothe you and heal you.
I will bring you roses.
I too have been covered with thorns.
_______________________

Before coming to this world we were in heaven.
We were friends of the angels.
There is our real homeland, and we will return to it.
_____________________

Fall in love
with the agony of love.
not the ecstasy.
then the beloved
will fall in love with you.

______________________

All your unfulfilled desire
sare from your greed
for gain of fulfillments let go of them all
and they will be sent as gifts.

Lover whispers to my ear,
Better to be a pray than a hunter.
Make yourself My fool.
Stop trying to be the sun and become a speck!
Dwell at My door and be homeless
Don't pretend to be a candle, be a moth,
so you may taste the savor of Life
and know the power hidden in serving.

From myself I am copper,
through You friend, I am gold.
From myself I'm a stone,
but through You I am a gem!

Once a beloved asked her lover: 'Friend, You have seen many places in the world!
Now - which of all these cities was the best?
'He said: 'The city where my sweetheart lives!'

And so I wonder, sweetest love,
if I Should drink this ruby wine, or rather weep;
Each tear a bezel with your face engraved,
A rosary to memorize your name...
There are so many ways to call you back-Yes, even if you only were a dream.
________________________

Sometimes I wonder, sweetest love,
if you were a mere dream in along winter night,
a dream of spring-days, and of golden light
Which sheds its rays upon a frozen heart;
A dream of wine that fills the drunken eye.
_______________________

The lover's house improves with fire.
From now on I will make burning my aim,
for I am like the candle: burning only makes me brighter.
Abandon sleep tonight;
traverse from one night
the region of the sleepless
__________________________

Look upon these lovers who have become distraught
and like moths have died in union with the One Beloved.
Look upon this ship of God's creatures
and see how it is sunk in Love.
_________________________

Never lose hope when the Beloved sends you away.
If you're abandoned
if you're left hopeless tomorrow for sure you'll be called again.
If the door is shut right in your face
keep waiting with patience don't leave right away.
Seeing your patience your love will soon summon you with grace raise you like a champion.
__________________________

Show but your face - the world is filled with light!
But if you cover it, it's the darkest night!.
__________________________

O heart,
what a wonderful bird you are.
Seeking divine heights,
Flapping your wings,
you smashed the pointed spears of your enemy.
__________________________

Beating your wings and feathers,
you broke free from this cage.
Rising up to the skyyou attained the world of the soul.
__________________________

Your love has pierced me to the depths,
its ecstasy entwines both bone and nerve.
_________________________

With Your sweet Soul,
this soul of mine has merged as water does with wine.
Who can part the water from the wine,
or me from You when we combine?
You have become my greater self;
how can smallness limit me?
You've taken on my being,
how shall I not take on Yours?
Forever, You have claimed me
that forever I may know You're mine..
_________________________

The springtime of Lovers has come,
that this dust bowl may become a garden;
the proclamation of heaven has come,
that the bird of the soul may rise in flight.
The sea becomes full of pearls,...
the salt marsh becomes sweet as kauthar,
the stone becomes a diamond from the mine,
the body becomes wholly soul.
_________________________

We are the night ocean filled
With glints of light. We are the space
Between the fish and the moon,
While we sit here together.
_________________________

In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you,
but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.
__________________________

Knock, And He'll open the door
Vanish, And He'll make you shine like the sun
Fall, And He'll raise you to the heavens
Become nothing, And He'll turn you into everything.
__________________________

Ignore those that make you fearful and sad, that degrade you back towards disease and death.
_________________________

What you seek is seeking you.
________________________

A house of love with no limits,
a presence more beautiful than venus or the moon,
a beauty whose image fills the mirror of the heart.

I have a thirsty fish in me
that can never find enoughof what it’s thirsty for!
__________________________

O God,
there are hundreds of snares and baits,
And we are even as greedy and foolish birds;
Every moment our feet are caught in a fresh snare ;
Yea,
each one of us,
though he be a falcon or Simurgh!
Thou dost release us every moment, and straightway
We again fly into the snare,
O Almighty One!
______________________

I swallowed
some of the Beloved's sweet intoxicant,
and now I am ill.
My body aches,
my fever is high.
They called in the Doctor and he said,
drink this tea!
OK, time to drink this tea.
Take these pills!
OK, time to take these pills.
The Doctor said,
get rid of the sweet intoxicant of his lips!
OK, time to get rid of the doctor.

It is your turn now,
you waited, you were patient.
The time has come,
for us to polish you.
We will transform your inner pearlinto a house of fire.
You're a gold mine.
Did you know that,
hidden in the dirt of the earth
It is your turn now,
to be placed in fire.
Let us cremate your impurities.
________________________

When we talk about the witness in our verse,
we talk about you.
A pure heart and a noble demeanor
can't compete with your radiant face.
They will ask youwhat you have produced.
Say to them,
except for Love,
what else can a Lover produce?
_______________________

By day I praised you
and never knew it.
By night I stayed with you
and never knew it.
I always thought that
I was me--but no,
I was you
and never knew it.

This is a gathering of Lovers.
In this gathering
there is no high, no low,
no smart, no ignorant,
no special assembly,
no grand discourse,
no proper schooling required.
There is no master,
no disciple.
This gathering is more like an intoxicated party,
full of tricksters, fools,
mad men and mad women.
This is a gathering of Lovers.
_______________________

I wish I could give you a taste of
the burning fire of Love.
There is a fireblazing inside of me.
If I cry about it, or if I don't,
the fire is at work,
night and day.
People make clothing to cover their intellect,
but the heart of Lovers
is a shroud,
inflamed in golden hues of His Love.
